Hospital Carer Support Workers

Every hospital in Fife has access to a dedicated Carer Support Worker who will support you in your caring role.

They will work with you and the hospital to give the person you care for the best possible chance of a successful discharge from the hospital.

You might have been caring for someone before they were admitted to the hospital, or it may be something new to you. Most of us will be a carer at some point, and almost none of us will be ready for it!

So, when the person you care about suddenly becomes the person you care for, we are here to help.

How our Hospital Carer Support Workers support you:

  • Make sure hospital procedures are clear to you.

  • Make sure you are informed and involved in the plans for the person you care for moving on from hospital.

  • Help you to be confident that you know what will be involved in your caring role after discharge, that you feel ready for it, and that appropriate support is in place to help you both.

  • Most importantly, they will give you the chance to talk one to one with someone who understands. You can talk openly and honestly about how you feel and know you’ll be supported without judgement.
