Have your say: three ways to shape health and social care in Fife

Fife Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is asking for views on three pieces of work: a new walk-in urgent care service in Buckhaven, inpatient mental health care, and the Lived Experience Network. These are HSCP's consultations, not ours. We are sharing them so carers and the people they support know they are open and how to take part.

New Walk-In Service (Urgent Care) at Buckhaven

The Scottish Government has asked NHS Fife and Fife HSCP to pilot a Walk-In Service (Urgent Care) at Randolph Wemyss Hospital in Buckhaven. It will offer same-day assessment and treatment for urgent health concerns that need prompt attention but are not life-threatening emergencies. It is meant to work alongside existing healthcare services, not replace them.

The service has already been commissioned, so this survey is not asking whether it should go ahead. It asks how the service can be delivered so that it is accessible, inclusive and equitable for everyone. Your answers will feed into the Equality Impact Assessment, implementation planning and the evaluation of the pilot. There are no right or wrong answers.

Mental health inpatient care

HSCP is gathering feedback from patients, families and carers to improve inpatient mental health services, with a focus on making them safe, supportive and person-centred. Carers, family and friends are specifically invited to take part alongside patients.

You can choose how to share your experience:

  • A one-to-one conversation, on the ward or in the community

  • A small group session

  • A telephone conversation

  • An online survey

You decide what to talk about and how much to share. Taking part is voluntary and confidential, and it will not affect anyone's care.

HSCP is particularly interested in experiences of:

  • Feeling safe during a hospital stay

  • What helped, or did not help, during times of distress

  • Approaches used to support safety and wellbeing

  • The staff support that made the biggest difference

  • Involvement in care and safety decisions

Lived Experience Network listening events

After April's Lived Experience Network (LEN) event, many people told HSCP they wanted more chances to share their experiences, meet others and get involved in shaping the Network. HSCP is now holding three LEN listening events for mental health across Fife.

The events are a space for people to:

  • Share their experiences and what matters most to them

  • Connect with others who have lived experience

  • Help shape the future direction of the Network

  • Say how they would like to be involved in future participation and co-production opportunities

HSCP also wants to understand who is currently engaging with the LEN and what perspectives they bring.
