PLEASE READ THIS AND SHARE IT!
Please help us with this. Being a carer is something that we find ourselves doing without much in the way of planning or forethought. Time for ourselves often just goes by the way and we find it becomes more and more difficult to take a break. As part of the new scottish government Carers (Scotland) Act local authorities are required to publish a short break statement and to consult with carers to formulate it. Fife Carers Centre are holding a series of small consultation discussion groups in a couple of weeks and are looking for family and unpaid carers to take part. The topic will be solely about Short Breaks for Carers, what we have called Respite breaks in the past. The groups are small, no more that 12 people attending so that everyone in the group has a chance to have their say. Each group will be hosted by Lesley from Fife Carers Centre and will be very informal. We have made the groups for carers who are caring for a similar reason - that will help us to feel more connected in each group. Each meeting will start at 10am and will finish at about 1pm with the chance to stay on and have the luxury of a lunch made by someone else (and no washing up either!). The sessions are as follows: Tuesday 25th September in Glenrothes for carers of adults aged between 16 and 65 Wednesday 26th September in Leven for carers of children and young people with learning disabilitles, behavioural difficulties and mental ill health Thursday 27th September in Dunfermline for carers of children and young people with profound and multiple disabilities, continuing complex needs Monday 1st October in Glenrothes and will be for carers of people over the age of 65. If you would like a chance to have your say something about Short Breaks for Carers then choose which of the groups would suit yo best and give us a call or send an email to Lesley.Childs@fifecarers.co.uk to book a place.
