We're very excited to say that the next part of our project with Fife Contemporary's CARE is about to start! We are looking for carers interested in crafting who are actively caring and would be able to commit to attending four sessions learning about jewelry making. Participants will work with Jeweller Stefanie Cheong to explore the foundations of working with metal using ethical materials and techniques. They will then design and develop some ideas that can be produced to be part of a collection to add to the CARE project products.
The sessions will take place on Wednesdays 4th March,11th March, 18th March and the 25th March from 1pm – 3pm each day. The sessions will include 1. Making a silver ring – this will act as a nice introduction to working with metal. You will learn to anneal, solder, hammer and manipulate the metal into a wearable silver ring. 2. Piercing out of Sheet Metal – using a Jewellers saw we will look at pattern and how to cut to create beautiful designs. 3. Wax carving (to be cast in metal) - using various waxes the participants will get the opportunity to carve and from shapes in wax and learn about the lost wax casting technique. 4. Design for CARE range to be explored and planned. We have a maximum of 8 places available. If you are interested in coming along and can commit to attend all the dates you can sign up by calling Fife Carers Centre or emailing lesley.childs@fifecarers.co.uk You can learn more about the project and Fife Contemporary on the website https://www.fcac.co.uk/shop/ 7/3/2020 02:44:43 pm
