A carer’s role is hard work, but it can also be very rewarding. It gives those you care for support they couldn’t manage without and can help them feel more like themselves and less isolated. One disease that is increasing across the UK and adding to the burden of carers, is dementia. Right now, over 850,000 people suffer from dementia, and that number is expected to rise to some 2 million by 2050. While research is ongoing into curing dementia, there are also ways to prevent the disease and slow the development of the condition.
