Conference findings: Building a Carer-Friendly Fife
The findings from the Unpaid Carers Conference 2026 are now available. The document captures what was discussed across the day, drawn directly from the facilitator capture sheets. It includes the five conference questions, the themes that emerged from each discussion, direct quotes from delegate contributions, and the full outputs from the Building a Carer-Friendly Fife workshop.
A lot of what is in this document is not new. Unpaid carers have been saying these things for years. It can be frustrating, for carers most of all, that they are often heard but not always listened to, and that much of what needs to change has not yet changed. We recognise that, and we are not pretending otherwise. The value of this document is that it puts the voice of carers in Fife in one place, in their own words, with specific examples that can be acted on rather than only acknowledged.
For those who attended
Thank you. The findings are a record of what you produced, and you should recognise your own contributions in it.
For those who could not be there
This is the working summary of where the conversation has reached in Fife. We hope it gives you a clear picture, and a starting point if you want to take any of it forward in your own setting.
For partners across health, social work, social care, education, employers, and community organisations
This is the evidence base behind the conversations that happen all over Fife. There are specific suggestions in here that belong to your sector. We would welcome the chance to talk about how to take them forward together.
